Our latest Hackney Giving Live crowdfunding event took place on Monday 13 April at the stunning Hoxton Square HQ of personalised shopping site, Lyst. During the evening three pioneering local charities pitched to the audience to raise funds for their grassroots community projects.

In addition to live crowdfunding, the audience were treated to an exclusive performance from fantastic stand-up comedian and Hackney local, Ava Vidal - a regular TV presence on Mock the Week, Michael McIntyre's Comedy Roadshow and Kings of Comedy.

The three charities pitching were: award-winning local youth group The Crib who are pitched for funds for an innovative music project to strengthen relations between the police and young people, Women & Young People’s Safety Solutions who provide self-defence and personal safety training for local women, and Evergreen Play who were seeking support for their supervised adventure playground for young children.

The sums generously pledged by the audience by the end of the evening were:

Evergreen Play Association - £2,950 | Sev Necati Training - £2,795 | The Crib - £2,763

Matt Bray, Communications Director for Hackney Giving, said: ‘It was a fantastic evening and we are delighted that three local charities have walked away with much needed funding for their projects. We’d like to say a huge thanks to Lyst for hosting us, to Ava Vidal for a brilliant set, and most of all, to our generous audience for donating to the charities’.
